MY PURITY IZ MY SANITY

Today my act of resistance was wearing a sign that said "MY PURITY IZ MY SANITY". Surprisingly i didn't get any negative reactions from it... And I don't think ALiyya or Montrell did either. With this sign I wanted to express how important purity actually is... In this day in age a lot of teen girls and boys are pressured into having sex before marriage becuz some ppl think that ABSTAINANCE is LAME ... But 2 me its kind of kool bcuz that shows how much obedience and respect you have for yourself and your body... It also shows patience and self control. I feel that remaining pure is one of the most difficult tasks but its one of the most safe resorts. Think about it... Staying pure protects you from aids, the life threating disease that is killing our youth... Pregnancy... and For the ladies staying pure can save you from heart ache... Sex is a powerful thing, when u sleep with sumone u r giving them a part of your soul... And what if you give urself 2 sum1 and you figure out that they were a jerk aftawrds... That has 2 b one of the worst feeling ever...!!! sum of my friends have experienced that and they all regret it... SAVE URSELF... IF HE LOVES U 4REAL HE WILL WAIT!!! UR WORTH WAITING FOR!!! neva let anyone tell u tht ur not...
When ppl figured out wht the sign i wore sayd they were pleased especially teachers, and my mommy, and current "boo". His reaction was the most shocking becuz we neva discussed anything like that and this was mi chance 2 tell him how i truely felt about it... and he knew that the bible sayd for all of God's children to remain pure... but it had neva bn verbally stated that sex wasn't an option... He didn't realize how important this topic was to mi and to him as well... He said and I quote "bae, it's wheneva u readii... im not finna force it, I think that its pretty hott how u save'n yaself... I dn't disagree with yo choice, im behind u 100%" AWWWZ lolz
But over all i was very excited about all of the reactions of my peers, and their approval of my silent protest. Its amazing how words on a shirt can impact a community. I really didn't have to say much to anyone about the meaning of the sign, or why I was an advocate of abstinence. Most just gave thumbs ups... And i feel that I have accomplished my goal which was to show my peers that it is ok to be comfortable with waiting, and that we should wait. I know that some don't practice abstinence, but if that the case then all I have to say is WRAP IT UP...
Like the women of lysistrata I protested something that I believed in and accomplished what I wanted to, and needed to.

Lysistrata=the Man no the WOMAN

Lysistrata was a awesum play... the plot was interestingly smooth if you ask me... I enjoyed it a lot becuz this play wasn't the vessel of confussion, lik the others plays...and there were no sudden tragedy. I think aristophanes wrote Lysistrata that way becuz the play is all about women's power. And if you think about it baq in Aristophanes tyme women were verii smooth creaters, they didn't have to much drama and they weren't made for all the up's and downs. And 2 name the play after the main character was genius, bcuz she deserves that much credit!!!! She shamed the commissioner, desciplined the women of her community by making them strong against the men, and was the main cause behing the ending of the war. She's superwomen, xcept not... lolz...

Movement

Throughout the play Aristophanes has a lot of movement. During tense moment the reader sees pace'n. The movement in the war scenes and during the scene with Myrrhine and her husband. This plat is sort of different because stage direction plays a large role. In the stage direction he uses a lot of adjectives to describe the emotion and action that is take'n place

HAHAHA

omg on pages 80-90, the scene were Myrrhine tricks her husband into thinkin that she was gonna give in, was so HILARIOUS!!! He realli thought he was goin to get it that dae... NOT!!! This characterizes Myrrhine as very cunning, she is the onlii one who faced this temptation, and proudly stay'd strong. This scene also shows her strength. This is another scene were Aristophanes proves the POWER OF A WOMEN... It was as if her husband needed her, and she had the power to control his emotions, and his bodii instead of vice-versa. I think that this scene was so KOOL....

Peace-I give to u My pEaCe

I think it's quite interesting how Aristophanes uses plays witht the word peace. He uses peace as a person who actually speaks and has lines. And peace is what is to come of the Pelipenician (sorry 4 spellin) war. Giving Peace the opportunity to speak was a good decision why do you guys think he does that??

oAth(pg.33)

"a newer, more glamorous, supremely seductive me"
This is the 5th line of the women's pledge to each other. Refraining from sex can make a person newer, glam, and seductiv... WOW go figure.... lolz, aristophanes is sayin what Mi aliyya and mi mommi have bn sayin 4eva... LADIIES havin sex with a guy WILL NOT MAKE HIM THINK U UR HOTTER!!! abstaining is basicallii recreating themselves, 4 the better. wht do yall think???

GIRL POWER

u guys...
Lik i was jus readin tha scene where the commissioner orders his men to charge at lysistrata and she stands strong against him, there4 the commisioner sends to men after her and kleonike stands with lysistrata. And multiple men keep trying to step 2 them but the women stand together. ITs olik this united we stand divided we fall concept... dnt u think? This theme is extremely modern day bcuz if us females would stand 2gether then we cud accomplish so much more! If we would stop being HATERS: mayb our world would be a better place. The women of athens only wanted to stop a war, and were determined to do so. despite doubt. They had tru sisterhood. They trusted each other, which is completely AWESUM!!!!

Fire and WAter

I found it very interestin how aristophanes uses the elements, fire and water. The men carry fire in their torches when the women have the water to put out the fire. FIre is bold, and brilliant in color, it is also some thing that has to be formed. The fire on the men's torches had to be lit. But h20 is pure, and clensing, it has the ability to destroy entire cities, it is powerful and natural. The water is symbol of a women. We have the ability to help people grown, nuture the earth, and the ability to stop the growth of the population.

WHOA!!!

OMG... I was LMBO when reading this. Lysistrata is the historic version of ZANE. It's so explicit but NOT @ tha same tyme... KINDA WIERD. I was rollin when the commissoner referred to doggy style... like WHT THA... jus think talor, this isn't even tha real version... its toned down... Aristophanes was kinda awesome if u think about it. He had the ability to express theme's in the mist of senuality. Not manii ppl can accomplish this w/o being overly, UGH if uk wht i mean. This is surprise'n 2 me bcuz baq in those daez ppl didn't tlk about sex @ all.
Who is LYSiStrata???
I think the author uses lysistrata the character to play with gender roles. of course she has feminine traits but I see her as a very masculine character for some reason. She is a leader and somewhat of a rolemodel, to the other women. I think the others attain their strength thru Lysistrata. When she proposes the idea some of the women weren't OK with it, but after she asks again then they agreed. Usually we see men, taking on the role of leader and strategist. Lysistrata also talks about a veil in relation to gender. She says that it can be removed and placed on someone else. QUITE INTERESTING IF U ASK ME!!!

Lysistrata

HMMM... When reading i noticed that these women have a lot of control over these men. Even though back in those days women weren't seen as prominent parts of the society they had a great impact on the men. The men probably couldn't control their desires for the women. These women had the power to make or break the war. And in my eyes that is EXCELLENT! IF women would decide to refrain from sex today I wonder what whould happen... Would our world be better? Idk... 2dae sex has been made into this ugly, nasty act, but thats not the way God intended it 2 be. So mayb if we as females would actually make the chose to wait until we are married to have sex then maybe we could accomplish more. WHat do u guys think!!!

At the beginning of Act 3, it is clear that something has gone wrong. The women have been up all night. Berte offers to fix the fire, but the selfless Mrs. Elvsted urges her to let it die down and save firewood. However, when Hedda awakes she demands that the fire be brought back to life. This refers to the themes of the play's beginning, specifically to Berte's anxiety to please Hedda. Yet at the same time, much has happened since the beginning of the play. At the beginning of Act 3, one wonders if the climax of the play has been reached, offstage, at Brack's stag party.

I didn't even notice this... I neva payd much attention to Berte... And u guys iz tha climax realli in this act becuz if so i didn't notice lolz

Ibsen or Lorca???

Personally I liked the Houz of Bernarda Alba better than Hedda Gabler bcuz...
1.Lorca wasn't as hard to disect... in Ibsen scandal was kind of hidden...
~For example: Judge Brack and Hedda's secret luv 4 each other...
2.Ibsen used a lot more imagery about the physical space...
~ I cud actually c wht wht old world spain looked like
3.Characters were bolder
~Bernarda=dictator, Adela=rebel there character were a lot clearer

The pistol...

The pistol is a reoccuring object, but wht is it a symbol 4? Strength? Power? Self confidence? Death? All of the above? As Ms.D sayd it was really ironic how the pistol gave Hedda strength but also took her lyfe... and Lovborgs life 2... and the Lyfe of heddas unborn child! I think the pistol controlled Hedda more than she cud control the pistol! And when Ibsen describes Hedda her says her eyes are steel gray... And pistols r made of steel... Interesting.... how the windows to sumones soul could be the same color as sumthin that can strip sum1 of xistence...

ACT 4 (Hedda vs. Adela)

I think its verii interesting how Ibsen and Lorca both chose to end both of there pieces with the death of women. Adela and Hedda were both bond by... Well Adela was bound by society but Hedda was bound by her own self interest. It can be argued that Hedda is also bound by society but she allows society to bind her so... is that a tru possiblity? Adela had no choice but to kill herself that was the onlii way out 4 her. Adela didn't have the option of freedom any more, bcuz of Pepe death but Hedda did bcuz she was alreadii married and cuda basically did whteva she wanted to. Wht do u guys think??? Am i missing sumthin??

Hedda G. Vs. Tha Houz of B

tha houz of B.A was so much betta than hedda g. Bernarda and hedda were both depicted as villians but Bernarda was more hardcore. Bernardaa was a tru GANGSTER!! lolz but 4real... Hedda acts so strong but she isn't. Bernarda dictates and rules with an iron fist. Hedda jus rules with manipulatives bahavior.

Hedda Gabbler

Why did Ibsen choose to title his play HEDDA GABBLER instead of HEDDA TESMAN? The name gabler has to be her maiden name. y not tessman? I read somewhere that he did this bcuz he wanted to show that hedda was her fathers daughter not her husbands wife. This makes perfect sense but i wana kno what you guys think? What other possiblities are there?

ACT 1

Yo peeps... What were ur first thoughts about hedda ? I didn't know what to think about her. Now that I have finished the play i still don't know exactly what to think of her. She doesn't seem to have changed much. She's still mean and manipulative. What do u guys think?

Scandal

what do u guys think?? Even tho hedda blatanly said tht she wud b faithful, wud she hav an affair wit the Judge? They seem a lil bit to comfortable with each other!!! And the judge does seem to hav a lil swag on him!!! lolz

tha fake SUpErStar!!!

If you are what you say you are
A superstar
Then have no fear
The camera's here
and the microphones and they wanna know
Oh oh oh oh
(Lupe Fiasco)
This is so hedda in act 2. In act1 we see her tryin to be all high, mighty and powerful! but thats just what she says she is... In reality she has fears and doesn't want to be in the spotlight bcuz she is afraid of scandal. HaHAHA she's afraid she scarey... a coward and Judge Brack knows it. SHE A FAKE! a PHONY!! omg this is so GREAT! I LUV IT !!!

RICK ROSS ND HEDDA GABBLER!!!

Run how you want, boss Chill how you want, boss
Floss how you want, boss
Do whatcha like
Go rock your chain, boss
Pour that champagne, boss
Keep getting paid, boss
Do Whatcha likeRoss, la la, la la, la la
Do Whatcha likeRoss,la la, la la, la BOSS

This is realli weird when i was listen to this while readin tha lst act a light bulb popped ova mi head, lik WOW!

Hedda gabler is so effin bossy, and not in a gud way. She see's to have champagne taste with kool aid money. Especially since George hasnt gotten the job yet. In her mind she HAS THE RIGHT to do wht she wants and wear wht she wants and to hav what she wants and George actually follows her lead! He seems a lil Feminine to mi u guys lolz!
